Ramon was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on February 20, 1927 to the late Juan Cintron and Antonia Vega. He is survived by his 2 daughters, Rosa and Antonia Cintron; 5 brothers, Daniel, Gonzalo, Luis, Ismael and Marcelino; and his sisters, Isabel and Maria. He will be greatly missed. The Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, from 9 – 11 a.m. at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State St., followed by Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Springfield~ Gregorio Perez, 75, of Holyoke, passed away on August 9, 2014. Gregorio was born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico on December 10, 1938 to the late Andres Perez and Calixta Mendez. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Cristina Perez; 2 sons, Gregorio Perez, Jr. and Jose L. Perez; 5 daughters,Migdalia Mateo, Ana I. Perez, Luz M. Garcia, Doribel Perez and Zoraida Valentin; a brother, Raul Perez; and 2 sisters, Tomasa Perez and Milagros Carmona. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed, and his memory will be cherished forever. The Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 19, fro 9 – 11 a.m. at Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, 730 State St., Springfield, MA 01109. She leaves to cherish her memory: her 7 sons, Raul Romero, Ruben Gonzalez, Jose A. Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez, Angel Gonzalez, Francisco Gonzalez and Juan Gonzalez; 2 daughters, Lydia and Matilde Gonzalez; and a sister, Iluminada Ocasio. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Theresa D. Beaudin, 91, passed away Friday in Wingate of Springfield. She was born Oct. 28, 1922 to the late Robert and Wilhelmina Docherty. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a seamstress at Reilly & Company Furriers in Canada. Theresa emigrated to the U.S. from Canada in 1954. She had come over from Scotland to Canada after WW II. Theresa was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. She was a member of the churches women’s club and volunteered her sewing skills for the O.L.S.H School. Theresa also volunteered at the former Springfield Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Cyril A. Beaudin who passed away July 29, 2005. Theresa leaves her children, Stephen C. Beaudin and his wife Beth of Peterborough, NH., Sheila B. Green and her husband Kevin of Blandford, MA., Lorri T. Wheeler and her husband Steven of Springfield, and Sandra A. Trudell and her husband Scott also of Springfield; her 4 grandchildren, Matthew Beaudin and Annemarie (Beaudin) Baker, Hannah Green and Andrew Wheeler; her sister Hannah Cochrane of Dundee, Scotland along with several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother John Docherty and sisters Anne Boulton and Mina Davidson. Funeral Services will be held MON. 12 NOON in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 405 Boston Rd., Spfld. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd., Spfld. Leocadia J. ( Jablonski ) Jordan, 92, passed away Thurs. surrounded by her loving family. She was born a daughter to the late Benjamin and Tofelia Jablonski and was raised on a farm in the Haydenville section of Williamsburg. The farm is currently Beaver Brook Golf Course. She graduated in 1940 from Williamsburg High School where she played basketball. She attended evening adult education classes at Springfield Trade School and N.E. Tech for Industrial Electronics. Leocadia worked for the Springfield Armory and then worked for over 25 years at Hamilton Standard, retiring in 1986. She also along with her husband Victor, owned Jordan’s Kennels. In her earlier years, she enjoyed ballroom and polka dancing with her husband. Leocadia loved the outdoors, especially gardening, spending time with her cat companion “Whiskers“. Leocadia was predeceased by her husband Victor Jordan in 1985. She leaves her daughters, Gloria Wilber and her husband George of Winsted, CT., Christine Blanchette and her husband Gary of Ellington, CT., and Rosemarie Masley and her husband Michael of Wilbraham; her grandchildren, Theordore, Katharyn and Duncan Wilber, and Alan and Victoria Masley and her great granddaughter Abigail Wilber. Leocadia was predeceased by her four brothers, Alex, Walter, Bernard and Edward Jablonski. Funeral Services will be held WEDS 11 AM at the SAMPSON’S CHAPEL OF THE ACRES FUNERAL HOME, 21 TINKHAM RD., SPFLD. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd. Josephine M. “Jo Jo” (D’Amario) Melcher, 100, of Hampden and formerly of Springfield, MA passed away peacefully at Jewish Geriatric Service of Longmeadow. Josephine was born in Springfield, MA, December 3, 1913, a beloved daughter of the late Vincenzo and Florinda (Candelmi) D’Amario. Josephine worked at the former Zayres Department Store until her retirement. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Chicopee VFW, and was also a member of the Springfield Golden Age Club, where she danced in many of their Variety Shows. She loved playing Bingo and trips to the casino. Most of all she enjoyed cooking great Italian Food for her family. In addition to her parents, Josephine was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Earl H. Melcher, Sr, who died in 1984, her daughter Peggy A. Melcher, her granddaughter, Debbie Ullom, her brothers, Dominick D’Amario and Frank D’Amario; her sisters, Mary Schonback and Elizabeth McElroy, and her grandson-in-law, Christopher Cobb. Josephine is survived by her sons, Robert T. Melcher and his wife Dianne of Hampden and Earl H. “Chipper” Melcher, Jr and his wife Paulette of Chicopee, his daughter Patricia Ullom and her husband S. Jerry Ullom of Fort Pierce, FL, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a great-great grandson due in December and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Rd, Springfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker St, Springfield, MA concluding with Rites of Committal and Interment at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, 895 Parker St, Springfield. Wilma M. (Major) Garaughty, 75, of Springfield died Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center, Springfield. Wilma, a daughter of the late George and Jesse (Laing) Major was born in Montreal Canada on February 1, 1939. She was raised and educated in Montreal. Wilma was a retired receptionist for 10 years with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and most especially being with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Wilma was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, William J. Garaughty. She is survived by a son, Frank G. J. Garaughty and his fiancée Justine Kane of Springfield; a daughter, Karen E. Guillen and her husband Jorge of Springfield; a sister, Betty McAfee and her husband Brian of Montreal, Canada; three grandchildren, Ryan, Elise, and Sean; along with many nieces and nephews. Alan R. Roy, 50 of Springfield died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at U. Mass Medical Center, Worcester. Alan, son of Eileen M. (Provost) Roy of Springfield and the late Gerard A. Roy was born in Springfield on April 9, 1964. Raised in Springfield he graduated from the Roger L. Putnum High School. Alan was a day care provider for many years and enjoyed taking care of his nieces and nephews. Alan loved to bowl, watch wrestling, was an avid Patriots fan, and was known on a first name basis with the American Red Cross for his many blood donations over the years. In addition to his father, Alan was predeceased by a sister, Lori E. Godard. Along with his mother he is survived by three brothers, Gerard A. Roy, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Holland, Clifford W. Roy and his companion Dawn Tryon of Enfield, CT, and Anthony G. Roy, Sr. and his wife Joyce of Belchertown; two sisters, Marie A. Billings and her husband Albert of Springfield and Debra A. DeFalco and her husband Thomas of Springfield; along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. Norman V. Fontaine, 90 of Springfield died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Lifecare Center, Wilbraham. Norman, a son of the late Victor J. and Victoria (Syrek) Fontaine was born in Holyoke on September 27, 1923. Raised in Chicopee he graduated from Chicopee High School. Norman was employed by the City of Springfield as a firefighter at the Walnut Street, Pine Street, and East Springfield Fire Stations for 35 years. Being an avid auto mechanic he also worked part time for Beaulieu Chevrolet and Mutual Ford. Norman resided in Springfield most of his life and was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 430 and the Springfield Fire Department’s Private’s Club. Norman served his country during WWII with the United States Army Air Corps and attained the rank of Corporal. In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by a son, Donald G. Fontaine, and a brother, Leonard V. Fontaine. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret M. (Mooney) Fontaine; two sons, David G. Fontaine and his wife Deborah of Belchertown and Robert N. Fontaine and his wife Carol of Dubuque, Iowa; four grandchildren; Gina Groff and her husband Timothy, Lauren Fontaine and her partner, Silara, Jeremy R. Fontaine and his wife Molly and Stephanie Fontaine; a great granddaughter, Lilianna Groff; a brother-in-law, John Mooney of Enfield, CT; a sister-in-law, Rose Mooney of Agawam; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours for Norman will be held on Tuesday morning, August 19, 2014 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Sampson’s Funeral Home, 710 Liberty Street, Springfield followed by a funeral home service at 10 a.m. Rites of Committal and Interment with Military Honors will be held in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam. Gordon “Gordy” Edward Eaton died peacefully at Baystate Medical Center on 8/23/14 in Springfield, MA at the age of 75. Gordy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sally Ann Nixon Eaton; children, Gregg & Mark of Wilbraham, Kimberly Wimble of Granby, CT, & grandchildren Wally, Sam, Jake & Brady. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Henry, Sr. & Veda Roberts Hubbell Eaton, of Wilbraham, brothers Thomas Gregg Hubbell, Sr., of Georgetown, Cayman Islands, William Henry Eaton, Jr. of Kerrville, TX, & Robert Earl Eaton of Hatfield. Gordy was born on 5/19/39 in Wilbraham where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from the Wilbraham Academy in 1957 & received his BS degree in teaching from AIC & a Masters from WPI. From 1969 to 2001 Gordy was a popular science teacher at Ludlow High School. He was an excellent artist who loved cartooning & painting, riding horses, farm life & of course, his family. Gertrud M. (Muller) “Omi” Sassi, 89, of Chicopee died Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Loomis House in Holyoke. Gertrud was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Arthur J. Sassi who died July 2, 2008. Gertrud, a daughter of the late Robert and Luise (Koch) Muller was born in Wiesbaden Erbenheim Germany on December 15, 1924. After surviving the challenges of post war Germany, Gertrud came to the U.S. with Arthur and resided in Chicopee for the past 54 years. She was employed as a receptionist/telephone operator for 25 years at Spalding Sports Worldwide in Chicopee. Gertrud was a communicant of former St. George Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister, on the Parish Council, the PTO and taught CCD. She loved to travel, taking bus tours, and exploring Europe. Gertrud was a renowned seamstress and talented dress and wedding gown maker. She also created amazing knitted creations as well as a continuous variety of other crafted items. She is survived by her children, Adele Sassi and her life partner George Hale of Fitchburg, Attilio Sassi and his wife Maryann of Westfield, Arleen Sassi-Wenzel and her husband Jeffrey of Granby and Ronald Sassi and his wife Linda of Hatfield; a sister, Hildegard Perner of Wiesbaden Erbenheim, Germany; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Cashton and her husband Jason, Erik Bjornson and his wife Diane , Kristina Bjornson, Nicholas Sassi, Laura Sassi, Angelina Sassi, and Hannah Sassi; four great grandchildren, Christopher, Heath, Tanner, and Nora; and many nieces and nephews in both the U.S. and Europe. In addition to her husband and parents, Gertrud was predeceased by her two brothers, Horst Muller and Hartmut Muller. Family and friends are asked to meet on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee to Celebrate the Liturgy of Christian Burial for Gertrud at 10 a.m. Rites of Committal and Interment will be held at a later date in the Chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Robert “Bob” V. Tyler, 90, of East Longmeadow and formerly of West Allen Ridge Road, Springfield died Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center. Robert, son of the late David A. Tyler, Sr. and Rose (Vizner) Tyler was born in Hartford, CT on March 13, 1924. Raised in Hartford he graduated from Hartford High School, and Phillips Exeter Academy where he and his brothers were star members of the swim teams, and also was a graduate of Trinity College. Robert was employed by Mass Mutual for 39 years in the Agent Training Department and retired in 1989. He served his country during WWII with the United States Army and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Robert participated in battles at Naples- Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, and the Rhineland. He was decorated for his efforts with the Purple Heart, the Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with Four Bronze Battle Stars. Robert resided in Springfield most of his life and in East Longmeadow for the past three years and was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Springfield Star Club, Learning in Later Life, was an avid amateur astronomer and member of the Arunah Hill Natural Science Center in Cummington. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Carrie H. (Wagner) Tyler; a son, Robert V. Tyler, Jr. and his wife Marie of Springfield; a daughter, Carol M. Tyler of Ashland, MA; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours for Robert will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield.
